An Update on Greg’s Journey: Challenges, Progress, and New Horizons

Hello everyone,

We wanted to share an update on Greg’s journey. Currently, Greg is navigating a mix of good and bad days. While his physical symptoms are manageable, the emotional toll of this battle—depression and anxiety about the future—has been heavy. We have noticed some recent declines in his memory, yet he remains remarkably independent, still handling daily tasks like grocery shopping and household chores.

Medical updates have been a bit of a mystery lately. Greg has been experiencing sharp, debilitating pain in his upper left leg. The team at Duke Health is running extensive tests, but a cause hasn’t been found yet. Greg received his 12th transfusion yesterday. We are anxious for his PET scan in September to see if the Lecanemab is successfully removing plaque. In the meantime, he continues to manage side effects like severe body aches and chills with the help of new medication.

Our Financial Shift
We are making big changes to stay afloat. Our home in South Carolina is officially on the market, and we are preparing to auction Greg’s business equipment soon. To cut costs, we’ve sold our cars and are relying on Chapel Hill’s great bus system, Uber, and Greg’s daily walks.
